Decatur man wins $250,000 in Mega Millions drawing

Sunday, February 25, 2007

ATLANTA – A Decatur man bought a lucky lottery ticket good for $250,000 in the Feb.16 Mega Millions drawing.

Thang Sui Lian purchased the winning ticket at Chevron Food Mart, 3635 Church St., in Clarkston. He matched the first five winning numbers using the Quik Pik option.

Winning numbers from the Feb.16 Mega Millions drawing were: 17-35-40-46-48 and the Mega Ball was 41.

Lian considers his winnings a late birthday gift. He celebrated his 25th birthday Feb. 3.

"I can’t even believe it,” said Lian, a local delivery truck driver. “I can say I’m lucky."

He said he hasn’t yet decided how he’ll use the money.

"I plan to spend it well," he said. "I can’t even tell you how good I feel."

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 790,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
