ATLANTA – A Pooler resident had 1 million reasons to celebrate his birthday this year. William Kellogg played the instant game Georgia's $500 Million Club and won a $1 million prize.
"I couldn't believe it," said Kellogg, who turned 48 on Tuesday.
According to Kellogg, he was at home with his fiancée when he scratched the lucky ticket.
"She started jumping up and down and screaming," he said.
The winning ticket was purchased at Amit Food Mart, located at 211 W. Highway 80 in Pooler.
Kellogg works as a director of operations in the telecommunications industry. He will use his winnings to pay bills and invest for retirement.
Georgia's $500 Million Club tickets went on sale statewide Jan. 30. The game offers over $500 million in total cash prizes including 10 top prizes of $5 million, 40 prizes of $1 million, and an extra grand prize of $10 million. The game also offers over 81,900 prizes from $500 to $50,000 and over 3.8 million prizes from $40 to $200.
