ATLANTA – A Monroe deli worker is hamming it up as a new Georgia Lottery winner. Sandra Brown played the instant game Triple 777 and won a $37,000 top prize.
"I couldn't believe it," Brown said.
BP Monroe, located at 705 W. Spring St. in Monroe, sold the lucky ticket. Brown scratched her ticket in the store.
"I yelled, 'I won $37,000.' Everyone in the store was turning around looking at me and congratulating me."
Brown, 57, is married with two children and three grandchildren.
"I'm going to pay off some bills and give some of my winnings to my children and grandchildren," Brown shared. "I'm also going to take my sister out for lunch."
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 790,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
