Norcross woman ices a $27,000 lottery win

Sunday, April 1, 2007

ATLANTA – Yasmine Shazad-Chauhdry of Norcross played the Georgia Lottery instant game Ice Blue 7's and won a cool $27,000.

"I screamed," she said. "I feel very lucky."

Johnson Ferry Shell, located at 2124 Johnson Ferry Rd. in Atlanta, sold the lucky top prize ticket.

Shazad-Chauhdry, 50, is married with three children.

"I'll give some of my winnings to charity and use it for my kids," she shared. "This is good for my children's future."

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 790,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
