ATLANTA – A Norcross man is celebrating a $5 million Georgia Lottery win. Ibrahim Aboubaker, 44, played the instant game Georgia’s $500 Million Club and won a top prize.
Silver Gallons, located at 775 Beaver Ruin Road in Lilburn, sold the winning ticket. Aboubaker, a supervisor for a local parking management company, scratched the ticket outside of the store.
“I asked myself, ‘What is this? Am I dreaming?’” he said. “I’ve always dreamed about winning big in the lottery. I must be super lucky.”
Aboubaker has three children ages 17, 16 and 10 with his wife, Hindia. He plans to take a trip to Ethiopia to visit his parents.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing them,” he said.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 790,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
