ATLANTA – The owner of a Woodstock restaurant is the lucky winner of $510,639 from the March 31 Fantasy 5 drawing. Kaye Driskell of Canton is set to celebrate her 60th birthday on April 10.
Using the Quik Pik option Driskell’s husband, Ron, purchased the ticket as an early birthday gift. He bought the ticket at Kay Way Quick Stop, 2094 E. Cherokee Drive in Woodstock. Winning numbers from the March 31 Fantasy 5 drawing were: 06-08-33-37-38.
Driskell, who owns Old Towne Café on Main, checked the ticket after returning from a weekend vacation.
“Monetarily, this is the best birthday present,” said Driskell, who owns an 11-acre farm that consists of a miniature horse, a potbelly pig, a pygmy goat, five cats, three dogs and four birds. With her winnings, the grandmother of eight plans to build an aviary and will make minor house repairs.
“Winning will make life even more pleasant,” she said.
Georgia Lottery retailers selling winning Fantasy 5 tickets receive a retailer incentive bonus of $2,000. The retailer incentive bonus increases by $2,000 each time Fantasy 5 rolls. If more than one winning top prize ticket is sold, the retailers selling the top prize winning tickets will share the bonus. Kay Way Quick Stop will receive a $12,000 retailer incentive bonus.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 790,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
