ATLANTA – Winning is on the menu for a Brunswick waitress who purchased a Georgia Lottery ticket for her husband's birthday. Kimberly Daniels played the instant game Golden Ticket and won a $100,000 top prize.
"I bought the ticket on the way to my husband's birthday party last night," said Daniels, who claimed her prize Tuesday at the Georgia Lottery Corporation's Savannah District Office.
Daniels purchased the lucky ticket at El Cheapo, 6495 New Jesup Highway, Brunswick.
"We were on the way home when I scratched it off," Daniels explained. "Then we called everybody to let them know."
Daniels, 21, said she'll probably purchase a new car and save the remainder of her winnings.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $9 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 790,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
