Saturday’s Powerball drawing set for $133 million launch

Friday, July 29, 2011

ATLANTA – Powerball is on the move as the jackpot for Saturday’s drawing is at an estimated $133 million to a single annuity winner. Tickets are $1 per play.

The game offers two payment options: the jackpot prize paid over 29 years in 30 graduated payments or the cash option, which is approximately $69 million.

As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Powerball will benefit education in the state of Georgia.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $12.7 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.3 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
