ATLANTA – Sam Luckie just got luckier. The Atlanta truck driver played $100 Million Cash Spectacular and won the Georgia Lottery instant game’s $1 million top prize.
When asked about the correlation between his last name and his big win, Mr. Luckie nods and says, “I’ve been lucky.”
Cobb Parkway Chevron, located at 2041 Cobb Pkwy. in Marietta, sold the winning ticket.
After scratching the ticket in the store, Mr. Luckie was stunned to discover that he won $1 million. “I was speechless. My heart went in my throat.”
Mr. Luckie rushed home to show the ticket to his wife, Doris. He says she was a little groggy and didn’t realize how much he won. Mr. Luckie asked his wife to take another look at the ticket and says, “Then she was all bubbly. She woke up then!”
According to Mr. Luckie, he kept the ticket in several places, including a book bag and a picture frame, before claiming his prize at Georgia Lottery headquarters.
Mr. Luckie, 55, plans to invest most of his winnings. He is already renovating his home and will use a portion to enhance the improvements.
Mr. and Mrs. Luckie have two sons and three daughters along with seven grandchildren. Mr. Luckie is proud that his stepdaughter is a HOPE scholar at Georgia State University.
