Winning ticket worth $1M sold in Waynesboro

ATLANTA – A winning Georgia Lottery instant ticket worth $1 million was sold in Waynesboro. J & C Food Mart, located at 253 S. Liberty St. in Waynesboro, sold a lucky ticket with a $1 million top prize from the new instant game $1,000,000 Gold Rush.

The winner, Nathaniel Scott of Waynesboro, claimed his prize Monday at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Augusta.

Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $14.3 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.6 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
