ATLANTA – A Cordele grandmother of four has collected a top prize playing a Georgia Lottery instant game. Johnnie Mae Williams, 50, played the instant game 10X The Money and won a $40,000 top prize.
Williams, who has seven children with her husband, James, said she intends to save her winnings.
“We’ll put it in the bank,” she shared.
The lucky winner purchased her ticket at Sunset Food Mart, 503 W. 24th Ave. in Cordele.
“I went to the store for my husband,” Williams said. “I scratched it in the store, and my chest started hurting.”
In disbelief, Williams considers herself lucky.
“I saw that the tickets were half gone, so I said I’d try it,” she said.
