ATLANTA – A McDuffie County college student is celebrating a win from the Georgia Lottery. Dwayne Jones of Thomson has won a $200,000 top prize playing the Georgia Lottery instant game Lady Jumbo Bucks.
The 24-year-old purchased his lucky ticket at 7 Star Petro, 574 Main St. in Warrenton.
“I asked for the newest ticket, and I scratched it inside of the store,” said Jones, a sophomore working toward an electronic health technician certification. “I’m excited! I’m doing a whole of things right now.”
Jones intends to save his winnings.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $14.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.6 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
