ATLANTA – Jessy Flores of Gainesville has 10,000 reasons to be thankful as Thanksgiving approaches. Mr. Flores, 48, played the Georgia Lottery instant game $200 Million Cash Spectacular and won $10,000.
The lucky ticket was purchased at Petrofast Food Store #0015, located at 2178 Candler Hwy. in Gainesville.
Mr. Flores was fueling his truck when he scratched the winning ticket. “I actually took my glasses off and rubbed my eyes because I thought I was still asleep and dreaming,” he says.
Mr. Flores ran back into the Petrofast to tell store employees about his big win, and then he shared the exciting news with his wife Jacki.
“My wife wants a third,” jokes Mr. Flores, who works in quality control for Cottrell Trailers. “The rest I’ll probably put into savings.”
The Flores have three children – Jeff, 24, a Gainesville resident; Ashley, 23, of Denver, Colo.; and Cameron, 21, who plays football for the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
$200 Million Cash Spectacular is a $10 game that offers over 9.7 million prizes totaling over $210 million including 20 top prizes of $1 million.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $7.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 900,000 students have received HOPE Scholarships, and more than 700,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
