"We have traveled all over the state with our Rush to Win promotion, and it has been a tremendous success for the Georgia Lottery and the educational programs we fund," said Georgia Lottery Corporation President and CEO Margaret DeFrancisco. "The staggering response to this promotion has produced an incredible amount of dollars for HOPE and Pre-K."
Rush to Win Grand Prize Event contestants and their cities of residence are as follows: Danny Timothy "Tim" Cauley (Byron); Johnny Chattin (Elberton); Unive Ellis (Acworth); Judy Lorren Fincher (Cedartown); Wanda Mathew (Statesboro); Beverly Medlock (Marietta); Sharon Mitchell (Ellenwood); Neil Moore (Acworth); Veronica "Cookie" Rogers (Duluth); and Ronald Rowe Sr. (Leesburg).
Rush to Win is the Georgia Lottery's biggest statewide promotion ever, held in conjunction with the popular instant game $300 Million Gold Rush. The game and promotion were launched on Jan. 31. Former Atlanta Hawks great Dominique Wilkins was on hand during a launch event at Philips Arena for the game and promotion.
Mrs. DeFrancisco unveiled $300 Million Gold Rush tickets in a gold mine in Dahlonega, home of the first U.S. gold rush. $300 Million Gold Rush is a $10 game with 30 millionaires and the highest instant game top prize in Georgia history. The game offers over $304 MILLION in total cash prizes including 10 prizes of $2.5 MILLION and 20 $1 MILLION prizes.
To date, Georgia Lottery players have won over $103.7 MILLION playing $300 Million Gold Rush. More than 3.8 million players have won prizes ranging from $10 to $2.5 MILLION with two $2.5 MILLION top prizes claimed and seven $1 MILLION prizes claimed.
After two and a half exciting months, the promotional events will culminate with the Rush to Win Grand Prize Event. Georgia Lottery players were able to enter a second chance drawing for the opportunity to win the $1 MILLION grand prize or a Hummer H3. Rush to Win Grand Prize Event contestants were randomly selected from more than one million entries in the Rush to Win promotion.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 900,000 students have received HOPE Scholarships, and more than 700,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
