ATLANTA – The Georgia Lottery Corporation celebrated Cinco de Mayo by giving Fantasy 5 players four extra ways to win during the Fantasy 5 Bonus Ball Fiesta. In just five days, more than 194,000 players won prizes ranging from free tickets to over $738,000 in cash prizes.
From Monday, May 1 through Friday, May 5, the Georgia Lottery drew a Bonus Ball during the regularly scheduled Fantasy 5 drawings, following the five winning numbers. Players matching the Bonus Ball to one of the numbers on their ticket, in addition to one or more of the first five winning numbers, could win one of four fiesta prizes. As usual, players could still win prizes matching two, three, four or five winning numbers.
Players enjoyed better odds of winning since there were eight different ways to win a prize during Fantasy 5 Bonus Ball Fiesta. The overall odds of winning were almost 30 percent better – with a chance to win several thousands of dollars on the fiesta match 4 of 5 + Bonus Ball prize.
During Fantasy 5 Bonus Ball Fiesta, four lucky players won the Fantasy 5 top prize. One top prize ticket worth $30,949 was purchased in Monticello for the Fantasy 5 drawing on May 1. Two top prize tickets worth $62,955 each were purchased in Decatur and Savannah for the May 4 drawing. One top prize ticket for $46,706 was purchased in Wildwood for the May 5 drawing.
The Fantasy 5 second prize, which normally averages $400, ranged from $2,907 to $9,743 during Fantasy 5 Bonus Ball Fiesta.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.2 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 900,000 students have received HOPE Scholarships, and more than 700,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
