ATLANTA - When Margaret McLendon won a free Fantasy 5 ticket by matching two of five numbers in a recent drawing, she redeemed the free ticket and won even bigger. Ms. McLendon won $57,896 when her free ticket matched all five winning numbers in the Fantasy 5 drawing on June 7. "Lucky, huh?" was Ms. McLendon's reaction. "I've won before but not this big!" According to Ms. McLendon, she called the Georgia Lottery Corporation's Player Information Hotline after the drawing and learned that she was a Fantasy 5 top prize winner. "I called it about three times to make sure, and then I got my sister to call," she says. "I didn't go to sleep all night." Ms. McLendon, 58, works in the shipping department at Georgia Hi-Tech Fabricators in Vidalia. She will share her prize with her two grown children and her sister. "I'd rather give than receive," she states. The winning numbers for the Fantasy 5 drawing on June 7 were: 15-16-19-26-27. Ms. McLendon's free Quik Pik ticket was redeemed at Jani's Discount in Lyons. Jani's Discount is located at 400 NW Broad St. in Lyons. Georgia Lottery retailers selling winning Fantasy 5 tickets receive a retailer incentive bonus of $2,000. The retailer incentive bonus increases by $2,000 each time Fantasy 5 rolls. If more than one winning top prize ticket is sold, the retailers selling the top prize winning tickets will share the bonus. Jani's Discount will receive a retailer incentive bonus of $2,000. Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $7.4 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs.
