How to Claim

The Georgia Lottery Corporation advertises its jackpots at the estimated 30-year annuity for Mega Millions and Powerball. When players choose the annuity option on their Mega Millions, Powerball jackpot prize, the Georgia Lottery pays the prize out over 30 years by buying U.S. Government Treasury Securities, which earn interest and mature annually over the time period. That annual return is the amount winners receive each year for annuity period. With Cash Option, the Lottery takes the amount of money that would have been invested and pays it directly to the winner in one payment. Both payment options have federal and state taxes deducted from them.

The GLC cannot advise you about structuring lottery pools because they are arrangements made between private parties. If you decide to play in a group, prizes may be claimed by a single legal entity, such as a corporation, partnership or trust.  Groups, families, clubs or organizations can designate one individual or legal entity to receive a prize payment, or if the prize amount won is $5,001 or greater, individual prize payments (of $601 or greater) can be made to each group member, up to 25 members.

Prize winnings that go unclaimed in Georgia are included in the Georgia Lottery’s returns to education to help fund the HOPE and Pre-K Programs. Also, of this money, $200,000 is transferred annually to the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities for education and treatment programs for problem gambling.

The GLC's Board of Directors adopted game rules that determine the criteria for payments of all jackpots. Those rules provide that Mega Millions, Powerball, and Jumbo Bucks Lotto have jackpots paid out in 30 payments over 29 years. The jackpot prize pool is invested in government securities so that the winners, in effect, receive both the principal and interest on their prizes. If Cash Option is selected on either of those games, cash is paid in one lump sum.

Drawings are held five times a day at 8:00 am, 1:00 pm, 5:00 pm, 8:00 pm, and 11:59 pm.

WHERE CAN I VIEW CASH POP DRAWINGS?

Drawings will NOT be televised, but will appear on the Lotto Vision monitors (at retailers who have monitors), and on the Georgia Lottery website.  Past winning numbers can be found on galottery.com and on the Player Hotline at 1-800-GA-LUCKY (1-800-425-8259).

WHY DO CASH POP PLAYS HAVE DIFFERENT CASH PRIZE AMOUNTS?

When a ticket is purchased, the selected number(s) and the randomly generated cash prize amount will appear directly under the number. Therefore, it is possible to have different cash prize amounts per number per play. This is part of the game design. All cash prize values start at 5 times the dollar amount played.

WHAT ARE INSTANT WINS FOR CASH POP?

Every Cash Pop play you purchase at an Official Georgia Lottery retailer or Georgia Lottery vending machine is eligible for an instant cash win – double the price of your wager. See Odds and Prizes for details.

ARE ONLINE CASH POP PURCHASES ELIGIBLE FOR INSTANT WINS?

No. Only plays purchased at an Official Georgia Lottery retailer or Georgia Lottery vending machine are eligible for an instant cash win.

HOW DO I KNOW IF MY CASH POP PURCHASE WAS AN INSTANT WINNER?

When you purchase a CASH POP instant winning ticket through a clerk, you will hear the same sound you do when you redeem a winning ticket. That’s your clue to check your Cash Pop ticket. Each instant winning CASH POP will display an instant win message and the total amount of your instant win.

When you purchase a CASH POP instant winning ticket via a Georgia Lottery Vending machine, you will see an instant win message on vending machines that include visual displays. Each instant winning CASH POP will display an instant win message and the total amount of your instant win on your ticket.

HOW DO I REDEEM MY INSTANT WIN ON CASH POP?

Simply hand your instant winning Cash Pop ticket to your retailer and they will hand you your instant win cash prize along with an exchange ticket good for the drawings you purchased.

You can also scan your instant winning Cash Pop ticket on any Georgia Lottery vending machine that is able to scan tickets and you will receive an exchange ticket good for the drawings you purchased as well as machine credit equal to your instant win.

WHAT ARE THE INSTANT WIN PRIZES I CAN WIN ON CASH POP?

You can win double your wager price for any Cash Pop play you purchase. See Odds and Prizes for details.

CAN I WIN MULTIPLE INSTANT WINS ON CASH POP TICKET?

Yes. Instant wins are determined per play, so if you play multiple numbers for the same drawing, all of those numbers will print on the same ticket and each play/number is eligible for an instant win.

If you extend your play over multiple draws, you receive a separate ticket per drawing and each of those individual plays are eligible for instant wins as well.

In the CASH 3, CASH 4, and Georgia FIVE games, there is a fifteen minute window after a ticket is generated from the computer in which it can be canceled at the location where it was purchased. Mega Millions is a multi-state lottery with 43 participating states, the District of Columbia and U.S. Virgin Islands. Because computer-generated numbers are selected at random, it is possible for numbers to be repeated. There is no built-in memory. Once a ticket is generated, the process starts all over again with all the combinations.

The GLC has an obligation to raise as many dollars for educational programs in Georgia as we can while also ensuring that we have funds available to pay winners. To accomplish this, we must be able to limit our potential payout to an amount that we expect to reasonably pay based on the sales we generate for this game. The liability limit for CASH 3 is $10 million, CASH 4 is $10 million and Georgia FIVE is $10 million.

There are stringent security measures in place to ensure the integrity and randomness of the drawings. Our security department and an independent auditing firm attend and monitor each step in the drawing process. Each lottery machine and ballset used go through a series of pre-drawing tests to certify the integrity of the process. In addition, the entire process is videotaped.

CASH 3, CASH 4 & Georgia FIVE midday drawings are held daily at 12:29 p.m. CASH 3, CASH 4 & Georgia FIVE evening drawings are held daily at 6:59 p.m. CASH 3 and CASH 4 night drawings & Fantasy 5 drawings are held daily at 11:34 p.m. Cash4Life drawings are held every Monday and Thursday at 9:00 p.m. Cash Pop drawings are held every day at 8am, 1pm, 5pm, 8pm, 11:59pm.  Drawings will appear on the Lotto Vision monitors at retailers at the designated draw times.

A player is responsible for the accuracy of his/her ticket. Using a playslip helps ensure the accuracy of the ticket.

A ballset is a group of all the numbered balls used in a drawing for a particular draw game. For example, in Fantasy 5 there are 39 balls numbered from 1 through 39, this is considered a ballset. Each draw game has several ballsets which are individually sealed and bound and are assigned a number. There is a random selection for each drawing to determine which ballset will be used.

You can play KENO! at a variety of places: at traditional KENO! establishments, such as restaurants, bars, bowling alleys, and salons; at any Georgia Lottery retailer with KENO! To Go; and now online at https://www.galottery.com/en-us/games/draw-games/keno.html#tab-buyNow. You can also watch past KENO! drawings by visiting the KENO! To Go website at www.galottery.com/kenotogo.

Jackpots are based on sales. By using sales from the previous week, a jackpot is estimated based on a projection of what the sales will be for the coming week. Current interest rates determine the value of the money over the 29 year annuity period for Mega Millions, Powerball, Jumbo Bucks Lotto.

Winners in the Georgia Lottery’s second chance promotions will be contacted by Lottery representatives by phone, email, or mail using the contact information from their Players Club profiles. Additionally, second chance winners are posted on the promotional website.

Cash4Life is a multi-state lottery game offered in nine states - Georgia, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, Florida and Indiana. While Cash4Life is a multi-state game, winning tickets must be claimed in the state in which they were purchased.

You must also be physically located within the state of Georgia at the time of purchase.

Yes, while you’re physically located within the state of Georgia. For the best mobile experience, we recommend using our free Georgia Lottery mobile app, available from the App Store (iOS) and on our website at galottery.com.

You may purchase lottery games online only when you're physically located within the boundaries of the state of Georgia. The Georgia Lottery uses geo-location technology to determine if the device you're using to attempt an online lottery purchase is located within Georgia. If your device is located outside Georgia or the device location can't be ascertained, you won't be permitted to purchase lottery games online.

Misrepresenting your physical location in order to play Georgia Lottery games without authorization violates OCGA 16-9-90 et seq including but not limited to committing (a) the crime of "computer trespass" as set forth in OCGA 16-9-90 which can result in criminal penalties of a fine up to $50,000, imprisonment for up to 15 years, or both; and (b) the crime of "misleading transmission and use of a name over a computer network" as set forth in OCGA 16-9-93.1 which is a misdemeanor.

OCGA 16-9-20 makes it a crime to make a false statement or representation and such false statements may be punished by a fine of up to $1000, imprisonment of 1-5 years, or both; and false statements may subject you to additional civil and criminal penalties under federal law and under the laws of the state in which you are located.

Win: https://ums.geocomply.com/installer/url?id=TLOoAM7PIv&os=win&version=3.1.1.3

On a mobile device
There is no need to install any additional applications or software, but you may be asked to grant permission for your location to be determined.

On computers and mobile devices
• Wi-Fi must be turned ON, but you don’t need to be connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi.
• Certain types of software must not be running: VPN (Virtual Private Network), RDP (Remote Desktop Program), proxy

On mobile devices
• Location Services must be turned ON.
• If asked to allow location sharing or if the website www.galottery.com may use your current location, you must grant permission.

Multiple things could be preventing the geo-location technology from verifying your location.

  • Is Wi-Fi turned ON? The geo-location technology uses Wi-Fi to determine your location, so it must be turned ON on your computer or mobile device. If you’re using a PC, verify that it has Wi-Fi capability. You don’t need to be connected to the Internet via Wi-Fi for the geo-location technology to work.
  • Is the Wi-Fi able to detect nearby Wi-Fi networks? The geo-location technology uses information from nearby Wi-Fi networks, among other data, to determine your location. Ideally, your computer’s or device’s Wi-Fi should detect at least two Wi-Fi networks within range.
  • Is Location Services enabled on your mobile device? If you’re using a mobile device to purchase, you must turn Location Sharing ON to allow the geo-location technology to access your location.
  • If you're using a mobile device, did you grant permission to share your location? If you see a message asking you to allow location sharing with www.galottery.com, you must grant permission.
  • Are you running one of the following: VPN (Virtual Private Network), RDP (Remote Desktop Program), or a proxy? These applications must be disabled for the geo-location technology to verify your location.
  • Are you located very close to a state border? If you're within half a mile of a state border, the geo-location technology may have trouble verifying your location.

We must be able to locate you within the state of Georgia before we can permit you to purchase lottery games online. Our geo-location system uses data from nearby Wi-Fi networks to locate you. The more available Wi-Fi networks within range of your computer/device, the better we can locate you.

In order to be accurately located, your computer may need to detect more than one Wi-Fi network.

No, but your computer/device must have Wi-Fi enabled and be in range of Wi-Fi networks. It can be connected to the Internet via an Ethernet cable and have Wi-Fi on at the same time.

Yes, but please be aware that Internet connections provided by some larger businesses may be associated with a location outside of Georgia and are thus likely to indicate your location as being outside of Georgia. To resolve this issue, you may need to try accessing the Internet from another location or connection source.

If you’re having problems with accurate geo-location on your desktop or laptop computer, we suggest using a mobile device, which provides additional location data to our geo-location system. For the best mobile experience, we recommend using our free Georgia Lottery mobile app, available from the App Store (iOS) and on our website at galottery.com. You can also purchase games online at galottery.com when using the browser on your mobile device.

You must shut down all running processes of such applications.

PC: Force Quit: press Ctrl + Alt + Delete to access the Task Manager. In the Task Manager, click the VPN and click End.

If the problem persists, you may be required to remove the program from your computer.
Open Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall > and select/remove the software from the list.

Mac: Force Quit: Open the Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder of Applications. From the Activity Monitor, force each disallowed software to quit.

If the problem persists, you may be required to remove the program from your computer.
Locate the program in the Applications folder and drag to the trash.

Safari: Menu > Preferences > Advanced > Select Proxies: Change Settings. In the Proxy settings window, ensure that all proxy options are unchecked and disabled. Then click on the OK button to apply the changes.

These processes may differ between different browser versions.

For proxy services that are enabled from a specific website, your session/service must be terminated to proceed.

If your computer or its Internet connection is controlled by a corporate network, you may need to contact your network administrator to disable proxy settings on your device or network.

If the problem persists, your computer may have a virus. Our proxy check can be sensitive to possible viruses infecting your computer. If you're certain you're not using a proxy but still failing this check, the issue could be related to viruses or malware on your computer or any other device that shares your Internet connection. We recommend checking your devices for possible viruses and/or malware. Once you have removed the malware, it may take a few days for the update to take effect in our systems.

Some anti-virus and/or malware-detection software may flag the Player Location Check software downloaded to your computer as a threat. Please be assured that the software has been extensively tested and is safe to use on your device. Check to ensure the Player Location Check has not been quarantined by your anti-virus program.

PC: Restart the Player Location Check software through the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl + Alt + Delete and then finding the Player Location Check within the list of running processes.

Geo-Location on Mobile Devices

Android and iOS devices are supported. This includes Android cell phones and tablets and iPhones, iPads, and iPad minis.

Windows Phones are not supported.

Location Services and Wi-Fi must be ON.

If prompted, you must allow galottery.com to use your device’s location.

Our geo-location system needs Wi-Fi, GPS, and/or GSM signals to locate you when you’re using a mobile device to purchase lottery games. The more network signals you have within range of your device, the better we can locate you.

It’s possible that Location Services and Wi-Fi are not ON and/or that your device’s settings won’t allow it to share your location with our geo-location system. See the FAQ entries below for help turning on Location Services and Wi-Fi.
If your mobile browser is set to block sharing your location with galottery.com, you must adjust the setting to unblock it.
Chrome: Open menu (upper right corner) > Settings > Site settings > Location> Blocked. If galottery.com appears, tap it and then Clear & Reset.
Firefox: Open menu (upper right corner) > Settings > Page > Edit site settings > Clear.

You need to have Location Services on to enable GPS.

The Georgia Lottery provides a free mobile app for iOS and Android tablets and smartphones. The iOS app can be downloaded from the App Store, and the Android app is available on galottery.com.

The mobile app allows players to scan both scratcher and draw-game tickets to check if they’re winners, view winning numbers, locate nearby retailers, and much more. Players can also log in to their Players Club account to purchase select lottery games when they are located within Georgia, update their personal information, and sign up for email notifications for jackpot alerts, coupons, and exclusive offers, including chances to win tickets to exciting events featuring Georgia sports teams and entertainers.

At this time, the mobile app does not support entry into second-chance drawings.

The Georgia Lottery mobile app uses geo-location technology to determine if the device you’re using to purchase lottery games is within the boundaries of the state of Georgia. Your device’s location services and Wi-Fi must be turned on for geo-location to work; if they are turned off, you will not be permitted to purchase lottery games through the app.
