ATLANTA – Retirement just got even better for an Air Force retiree celebrating a half-million dollar Georgia Lottery win. Charles Dennis played the instant game Jumbo Jumbo Bucks and won the $500,000 top prize.
Now Mr. Dennis, a resident of Helena, plans to enjoy life on a lake.
“I’m going to Lake Oconee for a couple of months and will just kick back!” exclaims Mr. Dennis, 61.
Georgia Lottery retailer Wahl to Wahl Grocery, located at 4580 Highway 341 in Chauncey, sold the lucky ticket.
Mr. Dennis scratched his winning ticket in the store’s parking lot. He shares that he started shaking and yelled, “My turtle has come home!”
In addition to his lakeside retreat, Mr. Dennis plans to invest and will share his winnings with his four children.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 900,000 students have received HOPE Scholarships, and more than 700,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
