ATLANTA – It was a winning week for Georgia Lottery players with huge payouts on popular games. For the week ending March 4, 2006, “triples” were drawn twice in Cash 3, six players won the Fantasy 5 top prize, and five players won $1,000 a week for a year playing the new game Win for Life. “This has been a phenomenal time for Georgia Lottery players,” said Georgia Lottery Corporation President and CEO Margaret DeFrancisco. “It’s great that our players are having so much fun with our games. It’s just as rewarding to know that you’re helping HOPE Scholars and Pre-K students every time you purchase a Georgia Lottery ticket.” When 9-9-9 fell in the midday Cash 3 drawing on Tuesday, Feb. 28, lottery players won more than $5.5 million. Those winning numbers were chosen by more than 15,000 players. Just three days later, on Friday, March 3, 1-1-1 fell in the midday Cash 3 drawing and players won more than $2.6 million. More than 7,300 players selected that lucky combination. The top prize for a Cash 3 $1 play is $500. The top prize for a 50 cents play is $250. On Tuesday, Feb. 28, a Fantasy 5 ticket purchased in Marietta won a $133,714 top prize. The weekend was off to a great start when five players won the Fantasy 5 top prize of $20,879 on Friday, March, 3. Those winning tickets were purchased in Augusta, Jonesboro, Marietta, Perry and Villa Rica. During its inaugural week, five lucky Win for Life players in Georgia won the second prize of $1,000 a week for a year. Three players won the second prize in the game’s first drawing on Wednesday, March 1, and two players won the second prize on Saturday, March 4. Win for Life is an exciting game that offers a lifetime of security with a $1,000 a week for life top prize. Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 900,000 students have received HOPE Scholarships, and more than 700,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program. Play Responsibly – It’s All About Fun!
