ATLANTA – A Calhoun man is celebrating 2007 with $2.5 million after winning a top prize on the $300 Million Gold Rush instant game.
Ramon Perez Rivera, 24, said he and his younger brother had come from a restaurant when they stopped at Favorite Market #0025, 2958 Cleveland Road in Dalton, where he purchased the winning ticket.
"I'm bringing in the New Year with newfound fortune," Rivera said.
Rivera, an inspector for a local carpet company, first told his brother who was in disbelief. He plans to buy a house with his winnings, he said.
"We won't have to worry about many things," he said. "I'm grateful for that."
