ATLANTA – A Damascus woman won $100,000 with a winning Georgia Lottery Millionaire Raffle ticket.
Christine Walker is one of five players who received a $100,000 prize. The limited-time offer Millionaire Raffle drawing was held Dec. 31.
Walker purchased her lucky numbers at BJ’s Express, 415 S. Main St., Blakely.
The mother of two discovered she won on New Year’s Day.
"My 11-year-old son screamed when he found out that I was a winner," she said.
She and her husband, John, have not decided what to do with the winnings.
"I don’t know what I’ll buy first," she said. "But winning will make life even more exciting."
Millionaire Raffle was a limited-time game where 500,000 tickets were sold in numeric order. A computerized drawing randomly selected four $1 million prizes, five $100,000 prizes and 500 $1,000 prizes.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 790,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
