A Dawsonville woman won $1 million from a Millionaire Raffle ticket she received as a Christmas present from her husband.
Barbara Wigington, 53, is one of four millionaire raffle winners who won from the statewide drawing held Dec. 31.
"I feel great right now," said Wigington, office manager of a propane company. "I am very lucky and fortunate."
Millionaire Raffle was a limited-time game where 500,000 tickets were sold in numeric order. A computerized drawing randomly selected four $1 million prizes.
Wigington's husband, John, purchased the winning ticket at The Corner Store #0002, 6705 A Highway 52 East, Murrayville.
They watched the drawing the night it was televised and checked the ticket online for confirmation. Wigington said she plans to save for the couple's retirement and go on a small-scale shopping spree.
"How’s he going to top that next Christmas," Wigington quipped. "We are excited."
