ATLANTA – A Savannah woman is celebrating a $500,000 win from playing $500,000 Hold ‘Em Poker, a Georgia Lottery instant game.
The winner, Michelle Lucento, said she was shocked to see she’d won a top prize Wednesday night.
Lucento, 34, purchased the winning ticket at R&H Food Mart, 4906 Paulsen St., Savannah. She realized the royal flush was a winner.
“I couldn’t believe it myself, I was so nervous,” she said. “I was really numb when I told my husband.”
A project coordinator for a real estate development company, Lucento said she plans to pay off bills and save her winnings. She and her husband, Tony, also will visit her brother in Germany.
This is not the first time the Lucentos have benefited from the Georgia Lottery. Tony Lucento is a recipient of the HOPE Scholarship and is attending Armstrong Atlantic State University.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 900,000 students have received HOPE Scholarships, and more than 700,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
