ATLANTA – A Bainbridge woman received a lucky lottery gift on her birthday worth $45,000. Someone gave Lucy Lewis a Monster Money instant game ticket, and she won one of the game's top prizes.
"A friend bought the ticket and gave it to me," she explained.
Stop N Buy, located at 835 Dothan Road in Bainbridge, sold the lucky top prize ticket. Lewis scratched the ticket at home.
"I screamed and hollered," she said. "I jumped up and down and fell on the floor."
According to Lewis, who celebrated her 46th birthday Nov. 9, she will pay bills and purchase some items for her home.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $9.5 billion to the state of Georgia for education. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 850,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
