ATLANTA – A Blue Ridge carpenter has hammered out a lucky Georgia Lottery win. David Elliott played the instant game Lucky 7's Bingo and won $77,000.
The top prize ticket was purchased at Grandma Bet's Country Store, located at 6190 Blue Ridge Drive in Blue Ridge. Elliott scratched his ticket in the store's parking lot.
"Lo and behold, there it was," he exclaimed. "I started shaking."
The 38-year-old is married with two teenage children.
"I'm going to pay my bills first," Elliott said. "Then I wish to look for a pick-up truck and help out my family."
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $9.5 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 850,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
