ATLANTA – A Columbus painter is celebrating a lottery win. Joel Lewis, 50, played the Georgia Lottery instant game Millionaire Super 7's and won a $100,000 prize.
A lucky hunch led Lewis to Circle K Stores #6679, 2536 Airport Thruway in Columbus, where he purchased the winning ticket.
"It is Christmas time, so I'll be like Santa," he said. "I plan to share my winnings with my family."
Lewis said he also plans to take a trip to the Bahamas.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $9.5 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 850,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
