ATLANTA – A Dahlonega accountant has more numbers to crunch after a lucky Georgia Lottery win. Paul Gourley won $45,424 as one of four players to match all five winning numbers in the Nov. 9 Fantasy 5 drawing.
"I consider myself lucky," Gourley said.
Winning numbers for the drawing were: 7-16-17-22-24. Gourley purchased his top prize Quik Pik ticket at Petrofast Food Store #0017, located at 2030 Ga. Highway 400 in Dahlonega. Other top prize tickets for the drawing were purchased in Bethlehem, Columbus and Woodstock.
"I looked on galottery.com to verify the numbers," said Gourley, who claimed his prize Wednesday. "I started shouting with joy."
According to Gourley, 54, he plans to save most of his winnings.
"I'm also going to buy some Christmas presents for my wife and my father," he shared.
Georgia Lottery retailers selling winning Fantasy 5 top prize tickets receive a retailer incentive bonus of $2,000. The retailer incentive bonus increases by $2,000 each time Fantasy 5 rolls. If more than one winning top prize ticket is sold, the retailers selling the top prize winning tickets will share the bonus. Petrofast Food Store will receive a retailer incentive bonus of $1,500.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $9.5 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 850,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
