ATLANTA – A Lawrenceville woman has collected $100,000 from the Georgia Lottery. Maria Enriquez won a top prize playing the instant game $100,000 Monopoly.
"I just couldn't believe it," she said.
BK One Stop, located at 2429 Highway 29 in Lawrenceville, sold the lucky ticket.
Enriquez, 25, is a caregiver for the elderly and also works at a laundry. She is still deciding how to use her winnings but is already planning a trip.
"Next week I'm going on vacation," she said. "I'm going to Texas to see my family."
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $9.5 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 850,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
