ATLANTA – A retired plant worker has caught a lucky break in the lottery. Richard Morris, 81, won $291,248 when he matched all five winning numbers in the Sept. 21 Fantasy 5 drawing.
Morris purchased the ticket at Circle K Stores #6753, Highway 82 West in Georgetown. Winning numbers from the Sept. 21 Fantasy 5 drawing were: 6-7-17-18-24. He was at home when a family member shared the good news more than a month later.
"Now that I know it's true, I'm excited," said Morris, a resident of Eufaula, Ala. "I didn't realize that I'd held on to it that long."
Morris said that he plans to pay bills and buy a new pair of shoes.
"I'll need them now that my feet are back on the ground," he quipped.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $9.5 billion to the state of Georgia for education.
