ATLANTA – A "buy one, get one free" Georgia Lottery coupon added up to a $52,000 win for a Thomasville resident. The free ticket Essie Edwards received matched five out of six winning numbers plus the Free Ball in the Nov. 7 Win for Life drawing.
"I screamed," Edwards exclaimed. "I did a little dance."
Winning numbers for the drawing were: 4-8-25-34-38-42 and the Free Ball was 17. Edwards received her free ticket at Krishna's Corner, located at 1060 W. Jackson St. in Thomasville.
Edwards, who is married with three children and six grandchildren, is still deciding how to spend her winnings.
"I don't know yet, but it came at a good time," she said.
As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Win for Life will benefit education in the state of Georgia.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $9.5 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 850,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
