ATLANTA – A Tunnel Hill waitress has been served her second Georgia Lottery win this year. Sandra Duffie won $35,000 playing the instant game Red Hot Numbers. She won $10,000 in May on the instant game Good Luck.
"It was a nice treat," said Duffie, who won her recent prize on Halloween. "I was a lot calmer than the last time. Of course, I was still shocked."
The winning ticket was purchased at Chevron Family Food Mart, located at 705 N. Varnell Road in Tunnel Hill.
Duffie, 51, is married with two grown children and three grandchildren. She works as a waitress at a Dalton steak house.
According to Duffie, she paid bills with her first lottery win.
"This time I'm going to pay off a few more bills," she said. "We're also going to do some home improvements."
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $9.5 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 850,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
