ATLANTA – An Atlanta duo have shared friendship and music to last a lifetime. Childhood chums Chad Farley and Rodriques Sinkfield make up the rap group MADE IN ATLANTA and are competing as top 12 finalists in the Georgia Lottery’s All Access Music Search.
Auditions were held in Atlanta, Columbus, Macon and Savannah with three finalists in the categories of country, rock, pop/R&B and hip-hop/rap.
Farley, 25, and Sinkfield, 24, met while in middle school. Rodriques Sinkfield, aka Rah Rah, loves to entertain, and Sinkfield says his ability to write poetry comes naturally. By the time they were at North Atlanta High School, the two were ready to make music.
MADE IN ATLANTA has appeared as contestants on “Showtime at the Apollo” at the famous Apollo Theater in Harlem. The group also has challenged other hip-hop artists on WHTA-FM 107.9 and WVEE-FM 103.3 in Atlanta. Adding the Georgia Lottery to the list of feats is exciting, Farley said.
“When we perform, it’s pretty playful,” explained Farley, a Georgia Perimeter College student. “It is feel good music. You’re going to smile when you see us on stage.”
The music they create is relevant, upbeat and classic.
“We want to bring the fun back,” Sinkfield said.
As finalists, MADE IN ATLANTA performed during the halftime of the Nov. 28 Atlanta Falcons game at the Georgia Dome.
Country finalists are: Julie Gribble (Atlanta); Hannah Thomas (Covington); and Jessi Scott (LaGrange). Rock finalists are: Rusted Soul (Atlanta); theKey (Macon); and Three Quarter Ale (Atlanta). Pop/R&B finalists are: Xavier Lewis (Loganville); PHILLIPPIA (Lawrenceville); and Amber Bri Oliver (Columbus). Hip-Hop/Rap finalists are: KidSyc@Brandywine (Savannah); Young R (Juliette); and MADE IN ATLANTA (Atlanta).
One winner in each genre, determined, in part, by an online public poll, will head to Hollywood to record a track at the legendary Capitol Records Tower. In addition, finalists will be featured in a television special.
The Georgia Lottery’s All Access Music Search is held in conjunction with the instant game All Access, a music-themed game loaded with cash prizes up to $25,000, over 21 million music download prizes, and a second chance to win concert or event tickets and a VIP Los Angeles music experience trip of a lifetime.
