ATLANTA – An Atlanta grandmother made a costly mistake in the best possible way. Bobbie Ware, 84, accidentally played the instant game$300,000 Taxes Paid, and that’s exactly what she won.
Ware purchased the lucky Georgia Lottery ticket at an instant ticket vending machine in Kroger.
“I was upset,” she said. “That wasn’t the ticket that I meant to get.”
But her feelings quickly changed once she scratched the ticket and saw that she won $300,000 after taxes.
“It’s been fun,” Ware said. “I can’t believe this. It still hasn’t sunk in.”
Ware, a former social worker, retired from the Georgia Department of Human Resources after 35 years of service.
The mother of four and grandmother of 10 plans to share the lottery prize with her family.
Ware purchased her top prize ticket at Kroger #0461, 1225 Caroline Street, Atlanta.
