Sharpsburg man wins $50K with free lottery ticket
ATLANTA – A Sharpsburg man has won $50,000 thanks to a free Fantasy 5 ticket. Timothy
Beckham, 43, won the prize by matching all five winning numbers in the March 9 drawing.
“The funny thing is I won it off of a free ticket from last week,” Beckham said. “That’s pretty
neat.”
Beckham won the free ticket by matching two of five numbers in a previous Fantasy 5 drawing.
He was at work when he called the Georgia Lottery hot line and discovered his big win.
“I called and woke my wife up,” said Beckham, who works the night shift at Avery Dennison
in Peachtree City. “I’m kind of a practical joker, so she didn’t appreciate that until she realized I
wasn’t pulling her leg.”
A manufacturing technician, Beckham plans to buy a new car and take his wife, Lisa, and their
12-year-old son on a vacation.
Winning numbers from the March 9 Fantasy 5 drawing were: 2-4-14-21-37. Beckham received
his free Quik Pik ticket at Corner Amoco, 6594 Highway 54, Sharpsburg.
Georgia Lottery retailers selling winning Fantasy 5 jackpot tickets receive a retailer incentive
bonus of $2,000. The retailer bonus increases by $2,000 each time Fantasy 5 rolls. If more than
one winning jackpot ticket is sold, the retailers selling the winning jackpot tickets will share the
bonus. Corner Amoco will receive a $2,000 retailer incentive bonus.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $12.3 billion to the state of
Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs,
including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.3
million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.1 million 4-year-olds have attended the
statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
