Georgia Lottery wins Emmy Award
ATLANTA – The Georgia Lottery Corp. has won an Emmy Award for its television special “Georgia Lottery’s All Access Music Search.” The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Southeast Chapter presented the award Saturday in the category of Television Programming Excellence: Special Event Coverage – Live.
Recognized with the award were: Margaret DeFrancisco, Georgia Lottery president and CEO; James Hutchinson, Georgia Lottery senior vice president of marketing and product development; John Petrini, WSB-TV producer; and Kevin Frazier, entertainment correspondent.
The “All Access Music Search” was a statewide, “American Idol”-style music competition that aired in January 2011. It was held in conjunction with All Access, a music-themed Georgia Lottery instant game.
Hosted by Frazier, the show featured Georgia music superstars Dallas Austin, Monica, Shawn Mullins, and Clay Cook of the Zac Brown Band as judges. Actress and dancer Jasmine Guy choreographed the special.
A combination of online voting and the celebrity judges determined the winners, including Xavier Lewis “The Antidote to R&B” of Loganville (pop/R&B); Hannah Thomas of Covington (country); KidSyc@Brandywine of Savannah (hip-hop/rap); and theKey of Macon (rock).
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $13.4 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.4 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.1 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
