ATLANTA – One Harris County mother has won millions from the Georgia Lottery and is sharing her good fortune with her daughters. Emma Grillo of Ellerslie won a $4 million prize playing the instant game Super Millions.
Grillo is sharing the prize with her two daughters, Allena Grillo, 26; and Opici Woodgett, 32, both of Ellerslie.
“These are my girls,” she explained. “I have to share it with them.”
The three claimed their share Tuesday at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Columbus.
Emma Grillo purchased the lucky ticket at Corner Cupboard #0003, 3857 Milgen Road in Columbus, and scratched it in her car.
“I was by myself, and I was like ‘OK, is this real?’ ” the grandmother of three questioned. “ ‘I’m looking at this ticket, so it’s got to be real.’”
According to Grillo, she made phone calls to her daughters. Soon after, they were by her side to celebrate.
“We couldn’t believe it at first, but we’re happy,” Woodgett exclaimed.
Neither Grillo nor her daughters have immediate plans for their windfall.
Super Millions is an instant ticket loaded with prizes of up to $5 million.
