ATLANTA – A grandmother of six anticipates living comfortably since winning $1 million playing a game from the Georgia Lottery. Karen Richards, 53, of Villa Rica played the instant game 50X The Money, winning a top prize.
“This is quite exciting,” Richards exclaimed. “It’s an adrenaline rush.”
The mother of three adult children had taken her mother to a local hospital for physical therapy.
Richards went to Four Lane BP, 920 S. Park St. in Carrollton, to “kill time.” That’s where she purchased her lucky ticket.
“I couldn’t breathe,” she said. “I called all of my family, and they didn’t believe me at first.”
Calling the experience “fun,” Richards is cheerful over her windfall.
“It’s a lot of money, so I don’t have plans now,” she said. “I’ll probably invest.”
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $13.1 billion to the state of Georgia for education.
