ATLANTA – A Columbia County stay-at-home mom has cashed in on a Georgia Lottery prize while picking up a daily cup of coffee for her husband. Paige Benson of Martinez won a $50,000 top prize with the tasty brew playing the popular instant game Jumbo Bucks Classic.
Circle K #5343, 3934 Washington Road in Martinez, sold the winning ticket.
Benson, 47, claimed her prize Wednesday at the Georgia Lottery District Office in Augusta.
Married 18 years, Benson and her husband, Bennett, are elated.
“I usually pick up lottery tickets and doughnuts,” she explained. “That ticket looked at me, and I bought three of them.”
The second ticket held the top prize. Benson scratched it while at home.
“I cooked breakfast, and the ticket sat for two hours while I read the newspaper, then I scratched it,” she said. “I couldn’t believe it!”
The Bensons have three children, and the lucky winner will plan a family vacation to Disney World.
“I’m so excited. I have so many plans,” she said. “It’s my time to shine.”
