ATLANTA – A man from Stone Mountain is clutching a quarter-million dollar prize from playing the Georgia Lottery. John Collins Jr., 54, matched all numbers from the Feb. 9 All or Nothing evening drawing, winning a $250,000 prize.
Collins purchased his Quik Pik ticket at Chevron Food Mart, 410 S. Stone Mountain Lithonia Road in Stone Mountain.
“It’s unbelievable, but I wasn’t too excited,” the lucky winner said. “I plan on investing and spending a little, maybe.”
Self-employed in construction, Collins and his wife, Nadirah, have five children.
All or Nothing is a $2 game that offers prizes of up to $250,000 with four daily drawings.
Players can win the top prize by matching all or none of the 12 numbers drawn.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $16 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.7 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
