ATLANTA – A gas station in Decatur has sold a winning Georgia Lottery instant ticket with a hefty top prize. Shell Food Mart, located at 570 DeKalb Industrial Way, sold a winning ticket worth $350,000, after taxes, from the instant game $350,000 Taxes Paid.
The winner, Derrick Spence Sr. of Oxford, claimed his prize Feb. 2 at the Georgia Lottery’s District Office in Duluth.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $16 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.7 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
