ATLANTA – James Ford, a grandfather of three, has won a brand new 2015 Cadillac SRX courtesy of the Georgia Lottery. Ford, an Augusta resident, played the instant game Cadillac Riches to win his sparkling four-wheeled prize.
Georgia Lottery representatives presented Ford with the keys to his new vehicle Friday at the Georgia Lottery’s Augusta District Office in Grovetown.
Super Express #0002, 1502 Central Ave. in Augusta, sold the winning ticket.
“I’m excited, and my wife is excited about winning something of this magnitude,” said Ford, whose wife, Jennie, joined him. “We’re extremely lucky and pleased.”
The couple, who’ve been married for more than 40 years, have two adult children in addition to their grandchildren. Ford retired six years ago working for a utility company.
“I’m going to pull the car up in my driveway, sit on my porch, and watch the neighbors drool,” he quipped.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $16.2 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.7 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.3 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
