Retired veteran wins $10,000 on Georgia Lottery instant ticket game
ATLANTA – David Mazzacone of Savannah is bringing in the holiday season with some extra cheer. Mazzacone, 61, recently won $10,000 playing the 100X The Money instant ticket game.
El Cheapo #105, 5920 Ogeechee Road, Savannah, sold the winning ticket.
Mazzacone said he was out running errands when he purchased the scratcher.
“I couldn’t believe it,” he said. “I’ve won prizes before but nothing like this.”
According to the retired veteran, this was just what he needed to celebrate the season.
“This is just in time for the holidays,” he said. “I’m really happy.”
Mazzacone intends to use his winnings to buy gifts for Christmas and share with his family.
The lucky winner claimed his prize last week at the Savannah Georgia Lottery District Office.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $17.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.7 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.4 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
