ATLANTA – Thomas Fisher of Decatur recently checked out a lucky prize. Fisher was selected randomly to win $25,000 in the Nov. 17 Terrific Cash Tuesday drawing from the Georgia Lottery’s 25th Anniversary Cash Giveaway.
The 65-year-old librarian said he was in disbelief when he checked the promotion’s website and discovered he was a winner.
“I figured I would start at the top of the list with the big prizes and just work my way down,” he said. “But then I saw that my name was one of the first at the top – I couldn’t believe it.”
After pausing to give himself a second to digest his win, Fisher said he immediately notified his wife.
“I sent her a text telling her to check her email,” he said. “She texted me right back. In her words, she was ‘very, very excited.”
Fisher said that he plans to use his lucky winnings to vacation with his wife in Europe.
“I used to live there, but she’s never been,” he said. “It should be really nice.”
The lucky winner claimed his prize last week at Georgia Lottery headquarters.
