ATLANTA – Georgia Lottery players are being given a chance to ring in the New Year with some extra flare. Georgia Lottery officials announced today that the jackpot for Tuesday’s Mega Millions drawing has been raised from $415 million to $425 million.
The Mega Millions jackpot has grown since Oct. 26 and has rolled 19 times.
Mega Millions offers two jackpot payment options: the $425 million annuity prize paid out as one immediate payment followed by 29 annual graduated payments; or the cash option, which is approximately $254 million.
Mega Millions has already been providing Georgia Lottery players some extra mojo, however.
Three winning tickets were sold in Hoschton, McRae and Tallapoosa in the Dec. 28 Mega Millions drawing. One ticket was worth $1 million, and the other two tickets were worth $10,000 each.
The $1 million ticket was sold at Publix Super Market #1188, located at 6055 Highway 124 W. in Hoschton.
The $10,000 tickets were purchased at Marathon, located at 374 S. 3rd Ave. in McRae, and Newborn Truck Stop, located at 840 Highway 100 S. in Tallapoosa.
Winning numbers from the Dec. 28 drawing were: 9-10-25-37-38 and the Mega Ball 21.
Winners have not come forward to claim the prizes yet.
Mega Millions winners have 180 days from the draw date to claim prizes.
It only takes $2 to play Mega Millions for a chance to win big. Mega Millions players can multiply prizes with the Megaplier option for an additional $1 per play. Mega Millions also offers an optional $3 wager Just the Jackpot that allows players to receive two entries for a chance to win the game’s jackpot prize only.
Mega Millions tickets can be purchased at Georgia Lottery retailers statewide. Georgia residents also can purchase Mega Millions tickets via the Georgia Lottery app or online at www.galottery.com.
As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Mega Millions will benefit education in the state of Georgia.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $20 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.8 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.6 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
