Atlanta – As the Mega Millions and Powerball jackpots continue to grow, the Georgia Lottery is reminding players to enjoy the games safely and responsibly.
During the COVID-19 period, the Georgia Lottery encourages anyone purchasing at retail to follow public safety guidelines and put their safety and the safety of others first. As always, players are welcome to buy tickets at home on the Georgia Lottery app or at galottery.com.
Mega Millions and Powerball both rolled over the weekend, bringing Tuesday’s Mega Millions jackpot to an estimated $625 million with a $458.8 million cash option and Wednesday’s Powerball jackpot to an estimated $550 million with a cash option of $411.4 million.
As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Mega Millions and Powerball will benefit education in the state of Georgia.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned approximately $22.7 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 1.9 million students have received HOPE, and more than 1.6 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
