ATLANTA – The Powerball jackpot now stands at an estimated $760 million–the sixth largest jackpot in game history–for the next drawing on Saturday night. The jackpot has a cash value of $382.5 million.
The winning numbers in the Dec. 27 Powerball drawing were white balls 4, 11, 38, 51, 68 and red Powerball 5. The Power Play was 3X.
Georgia Lottery players won big in Wednesday’s drawing, including a $150,000 prize and a $50,000 prize. A Douglasville resident won $150,000 via the Georgia Lottery mobile app, tripling the prize from $50,000 with the Power Play feature. A $50,000 ticket was purchased at BN Food Mart, 4267 Roswell Road, Marietta.
The Powerball jackpot was previously won on Oct. 11 when a ticket in California won a $1.765 billion grand prize. Since then, there have been 33 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner.
If a player wins the jackpot in Saturday’s drawing, they will have the choice between an annuitized prize worth an estimated $760 million or a lump sum payment estimated at $382.5 million. Both prize options are before taxes. If the winner selects the annuity option, they will receive one immediate payment followed by 29 annual payments that increase by 5% each year.
Powerball tickets can be purchased at Georgia Lottery retailers statewide. Georgia residents with a Georgia mailing address, who are located in Georgia at the time of purchase, can purchase Powerball tickets via the Georgia Lottery app or online at www.galottery.com.
Powerball tickets are $2 per play. Powerball players can multiply prizes with the Power Play option for an additional $1 per play.
Players are reminded to check their tickets for one of the nine ways to win. Powerball winners in Georgia have 180 days from the draw date to claim prizes.
As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Powerball will benefit education in the state of Georgia.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corp. has returned more than $27.2 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs, including Georgia’s HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia’s Pre-K Program. More than 2.1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 2 million 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
