ATLANTA – On the day after his fifth wedding anniversary, Jeff Biedermann purchased a Great 8’s ticket and handed it to his wife, Glenda. Mrs. Biedermann scratched the ticket and won the Georgia Lottery instant game’s $28,000 top prize.
“I gave it to her and told her, ‘Happy Anniversary, darling,’” says Mr. Biedermann, a resident of Adel.
According to Mr. Biedermann, his wife scratched the ticket in the parking lot of the store where he purchased it. “She said, ‘Am I reading this right?’ I looked at it and started doing a jig in the parking lot.”
Georgia Lottery retailer Quick Change #3, located at 4592 N. Valdosta Rd. in Valdosta, sold the lucky ticket.
“We’ll save as much as we possibly can,” says Mr. Biedermann, 35. “We’re going to try to set up our future.”
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $7.2 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs. These include Georgia’s HOPE scholarship program; a statewide, voluntary pre-kindergarten program for four-year-olds; and a wide range of technological and capital upgrades for the state’s schools, technical institutes, colleges, universities and public libraries.
