ATLANTA – One winning ticket will provide a lifetime of winnings for an Alpharetta woman who won $52,000 a year for life playing Win For Life. Dulce Garcia, 44, will receive $1,000 a week for the rest of her life.
"The thought of winning was never there, but this feels nice," said Garcia, an accounting firm administrator. "It will be nice to have extra money."
Garcia purchased her lucky ticket at QuikTrip #0782, 11700 Cotton Creek Entry, in Alpharetta using the Quik Pik option. Winning numbers from the Jan. 20 draw were: 08-13-15-22-26 and the Free Ball was 25.
She checked the numbers while browsing the Sunday newspaper, she said. Garcia and her husband, Phillip, have two daughters ages 13 and 11. She plans to set aside money to pay for the girls’ college tuition.
Win For Life drawings are held every Wednesday and Saturday at 11 p.m. Each Win For Life ticket costs $1.
Win For Life is a multi-state game played in Georgia, Virginia and Kentucky. As with all other Georgia Lottery games, proceeds from Win For Life will benefit education in the state of Georgia.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.8 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 1 million students have received HOPE, and more than 790,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
