ATLANTA – William Birt rang in the New Year with a $75,000 boost after winning a top prize in the 2007 Bingo Party instant game.
The antique auto aficionado from Matthews said he plans to help his daughter through college.
Luck definitely played a part in winning the prize, he said. He purchased the winning ticket from Jet Food Store #0067, 5619 Highway 88 East in Matthews.
"I was sitting in the store and decided to buy three tickets. The third ticket allowed me to get a free ticket, so I got another and scratched it off," said Birt, 57. "When I saw that I'd won, I had to grab on to something really quick so I wouldn't fall."
Birt said he is excited that he's won.
