ATLANTA – One lucky Atlanta resident is $1 million richer.
Leonard Diamond, 79, is the fourth millionaire from the limited-time offer Millionaire Raffle draw held Dec. 31.
The retired president of Goodman Decorating Co. purchased the winning ticket at BP, 3260 Bankhead Highway, Atlanta.
“I’m lucky to live in a great country, have a great family, and have money to do some good with. It will be well utilized,” he said.
Diamond will divide his winnings with his seven adult children, 11 grandchildren and his wife, Mona. He also plans to donate money to a charity.
“With whatever’s left, I’ll go and see the Atlanta Falcon’s play,” he said.
Millionaire Raffle was a limited-time game where 500,000 tickets were sold in numeric order. A computerized drawing randomly selected four $1 million prizes, five $100,000 prizes and 500 $1,000 prizes.
Since its first year, the Georgia Lottery Corporation has returned over $8.6 billion to the state of Georgia for education. All Georgia Lottery profits go to pay for specific educational programs including Georgia's HOPE Scholarship Program and Georgia's Prekindergarten Program. More than 900,000 students have received HOPE Scholarships, and more than 700,000 4-year-olds have attended the statewide, voluntary prekindergarten program.
